The word mother and the way it is used was debated this Wednesday, June 25, in the 'Conversas de Café' section of the program 'Dois às 10', on TVI.

The morning format, presented by Cristina Ferreira and Cláudio Ramos, featured commentators Cinha Jardim, Gonçalo Quinaz and Luísa Castel-Branco. And it was precisely the writer who brought the topic to the table.

"The amount of people who say to their puppies, come here to mommy. Daddy is here...", began Luísa Castel-Branco.

"I can't take it. I'm getting sick," Cláudio Ramos immediately reacted, showing that he has a fervent opinion on this subject.

" You have two daughters and you know that your daughters are more important than your dogs ", he said, addressing Cinha Jardim.

Outraged, the presenter also referred to his colleague and friend Maria Cerqueira Gomes. " Now we have Maria Cerqueira Gomes who the other day posted a post, I just want to go over there and give her a slap on the wrist . 'Me and my granddaughter' [he quoted], who is the son of a bitch who is following her around."

Under the watchful eyes of the other team members present in the studio, Cláudio Ramos continued to explain his point of view and stated that he wanted to question those who treat dogs as children:

"Listen, when this animal has children, what are you going to do? Are you going to give away your granddaughters?"

"The word mother is often used in a way that robs the word of its true meaning," said Luísa Castel-Branco, agreeing with Cláudio's opinion.

"Everyone is going to come down on me," continued Cláudio Ramos, admitting that he could be criticized for sharing but choosing, even so, to make his point of view public.

" I'm already nervous and I wasn't, it was great. A person who treats dogs like children is because the person has some kind of emotional gap. It's one thing to like animals and treat animals well, which have to be treated well, it's another thing to think that a dog is a child. "

Cinha Jardim expressed her opinion by recalling how for lonely people animals can represent the concept of family and companionship. "There are people who are very lonely and for whom animals are great company," said the commentator.

In response to his words, Cláudio Ramos recalled that his mother also has many dogs, "because she needs company", but that, even so, "she understands that they are not children".

Cristina Ferreira remained silent throughout her speech, choosing not to publicly reveal her opinion on the subject. The presenter, who has often been criticized for making her views public, preferred to play it safe this time.
